Four Things To Consider For Display Shelving

Posted by on 2/1/2018 to General

Though they stay in the background, for the most part, shelves are a crucial part of good store displays. They serve as an extra spot to hold all of your items and can look great. They sometimes offer a bit of flair, too. One of the most crucial parts of a display is its cohesion. It should flow efficiently and have a consistent theme. So, if one part is “off,” it may stick out to customers. Before you install new shelving or want to assess the shelves you have already, consider the following.

1.) Weight

How much can you - and should you - store on a shelf/shelf unit? It’s a vital fact you should know and keep at the back of your mind, so you don’t overload it and cause damage. A worn down shelf can break from the slightest bit of pressure, so stick to the weight limit and look it up whenever you need to ensure that it stays durable enough for your display.

2.) Product

Shelves can be as prominent or unassuming as you wish. It all depends on how you want to display your product. What are you going to place on your shelves? Do you prefer to keep best-sellers on grid walls to show them off? Or, is it more useful for you to use shelf space for accessories or continuations of brands people notice at the front of the store?

3.) Your theme

Before you bring any item into your store, you should keep the subject of your decor and store displays in mind. Anything that is going to be part of it should seamlessly intertwine with what you already have in place. Otherwise, it may stand out - in less than ideal way.

4.) Assembly

As with other equipment, shelving needs time and care to become what it is. If you’re busy and cannot fit an extra project into your schedule, it’s probably best to find a shelf or shelving unit that is pre-assembled or has very few directions. If you have time, feel free to install shelves that need a little bit of effort to get into place.

Shelving seems like an understated piece of decor, but it has potential to stand out and look great along with the rest of your store. To get all you need for store displays and more, call Joslin Displays at 1-(800)-325-1030 and see what we can do for you today!
