Mannequins from Joslin DisplaysSo the weather’s warming up, the sun is shining and the days are getting longer – this means people will be shopping in droves. For retailers, this means that it is time to rethink how to display their merchandise. And, at Joslin Displays, we have all the essential mannequins any retail store owner could need to see their profits soar this season! But we don’t just supply mannequins here. No, we’ve been in this business for over a century now so have come to learn a thing or two about how to use mannequins in a way that will guarantee an uptick in retail sales.

Consumer behavior studies have shown that 50% of shoppers make a decision whether or not to buy something instantaneously. This means that you’ve got to make your merchandise look as attractive as possible. And mannequins are the best way to do so.

Start at the Beginning

The first tip you want to keep in mind is exactly how you’re going to pose your mannequins. This will give you a strong foundation on which to decide which pieces of merchandise to dress them in. Then carefully choose the merchandise you want to display. Include accessories like shoes, hats, watches and jewelry to spice it up a bit. If you’re incorporating more than one mannequin in a store display, make sure their outfits complement each other.

Make sure to dress your mannequins in clothes that fit appropriately. You don’t want a mannequin stuffed into tight clothing or baggy clothing hanging off of a mannequin. Go ahead and iron or steam the outfits before dressing mannequins to ensure the merchandise looks its best.

Once you’ve gotten the right poses for your mannequins and their outfits selected, begin dressing them. Starting with the lower half of the mannequin, select appropriate shoes and socks to accent the attire. Then work upwards to the top and save the tops or jackets for last as they will cover any noticeable wrinkles in the outfit. Once you’ve dressed your mannequins, start to style them. Tuck in garment labels, select accessories, and then give yourself time to study the store display as a whole. Look at it from different angles and from different parts of your showroom to make sure that it is an attractive store display. Then, sit back and watch as shoppers flock to your newly created fashion extravaganza!
