5 Ways to Effectively Use Retail Store Fixtures

Posted by Kevin on 3/20/2014 to Articles

In the retail business, there is a great deal of competition out there. In order to set your business apart from others, you have to creatively and effectively use retail store fixtures to design attractive window displays that grab the attention of passersby. Your store’s window display has to impress potential customers enough so that they are enticed to shop in your store. An effective window display also needs to communicate to potential customers that your store is unique and fashion savvy. Among other elements, using mannequins from Joslin Displays can definitely help you design window displays that will spark the interest of the average shopper.

With all of the retail store fixtures that we make available, there are endless combinations that can be used to create an attractive window display. When you start the process of creating a window display, there are a few key elements to keep in mind.

Sometimes Less is More

You don’t want to overdo it when you’re creating a window display for your store. Too much clutter will only serve to confuse onlookers and may repel them from your store. Use one of our male or female mannequins as a focal point to design the rest of the display around.

Make Merchandise the Center of Attention

If using mannequins in your window display make sure that they’re adorned with the most eye catching and trendiest merchandise you have. Check out other shops’ window displays and make sure not to recreate theirs. Be creative with your window display by putting one of our female or male mannequins in interesting poses.

Lighting is Key

Using lights to accentuate mannequins and merchandise in your window display will make shoppers stop in their tracks to further inspect your goods. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different uses of lighting. While incorporating lighting into your window display, remember to repeatedly go outside to get the same perspective that passersby get.

Design and Stick to a Theme

By using backdrops along with retail store fixtures and mannequins, create an overall theme for your window display. For example, with spring upon us, create a window display that highlights spring related activities and merchandise. Also, don’t let your window display’s theme become stale by frequently mixing it up.

Organizing Items

One of the best ways to organize merchandise with retail store fixtures is to stack items in pyramid shapes and in odd numbers. Odd numbers are simply more pleasing to the eye. Experiment with the depth and height of your store’s window display. Background and foreground items make a window display more interesting to look at while also serving to keep your focal point balanced.
